On Wednesday 26th December, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, a house on Loughborough Road (between Firfield Avenue and the Sibson Road junction) was burgled. It is believed that the intruders may have been disturbed.Were you in this area around this time, did you see or hear anything suspicious ? Latest Incidents.
Oakfield Avenue. On Sunday 16th December between 2.00pm and 7.30pm a garage was broken into. LC/5527/12-2 (inc 648/17/12/12). OIC PCSO 6595 Alex Beirne.Longslade Community College. On Monday 17th December at 10.10pm an attempted burglary occurred. LC/5516/12-5 (inc 142/17/12/12). OIC PCSO 6611 Mark Butler.

Burglar charged, but can you help?
A person has been arrested and interviewed after being caught on Saturday 15th December for burgling a shop in The Meadway. (Crime No LC/5498/12-6 OIC DC Frobisher, Inc 130/15/12/12). He has also further admitted a burglary at a pharmacy on Sibson Road. (Crime No LC/5499/12-9 OIC DC Frobisher). He was charged to appear in court on Monday 17th December.If anyone saw or heard anything at the above or the following incidents, please get in contact with the relevant officer (OIC) on telephone number 101.
Friday 14th - Sunday 16th December. At the rear of a shop on Sibson Road (access from Stonehill Avenue) window boarding was removed but no entry gained. (Crime No LC/5519/12-4 OIC Dc Frobisher)
Friday 14th - Sunday 16th December. House on Elmfield Avenue (close to Loughborough Road) was burgled. Entry gained via rear window. (Crime No LC/5511/12-0 OIC PC 493 Bolstridge)

Trading Standards - Alert.
We have today received the following message:-Leicestershire Trading Standards has been contacted about a resident in the Sileby area receiving a cold telephone call from someone claiming to be from Leicestershire County Council's 'Finance Department' and requesting the resident's bank details.
It has been confirmed that the County Council has not contacted this resident in relation to any finance matter. The Finance Service Centre would not call residents to ask for their bank details over the telephone.
We have also been advised of another resident in the Barwell area who received an unsolicited call from a company that implied it was working with Age UK who wanted to visit and discuss financial matters, particularly that they could protect their house from having to be sold should they need to go into a care home. Although an appointment was initially made, the resident then cancelled it and no visit took place.
Trading Standards advises all residents to never disclose any of their banking details or other financial information over the telephone to anyone, even if they claim to be from that person's bank.

Burglary - Loughborough Road
Officers are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a house on Loughborough Road in Birstall.The incident took place between 12pm and 2.15pm on Monday, December 10.
Entry to the house was gained by forcing the rear patio doors.
A quantity of jewellery was taken including a silver Tag Heuer watch with a black face, a silver square faced Diesel watch with a green face, a silver DKNY watch, a platinum ring with diamond shoulders and a central pearl, an engraved gold chain and gold pendant, a fine gold chain set with blue stones, a delicate silver necklace with a small diamond encrusted heart, a pair of oblong earrings with diamonds in the centre and a silver box engraved with flowers.
Also taken was a black Apple iPad, a silver Apple Mac Book Pro laptop, an Apple TV, a silver Bose radio, a white Xbox and a JVC silver camcorder.
PC Nathaniel Lockley, the investigating officer, said: “The camcorder and laptop contained precious photos of the victims’ newborn baby daughter and the parents have been left heartbroken by this incident. Images like this cannot be replaced.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who has been offered any items matching these descriptions or who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact us.”

Burglars appear in Court.
A 16-year-old girl has been charged with burgling a house in Copeland Road, Birstall.A laptop computer and a bunch of keys are alleged to have been stolen in the incident on December 5.
The girl is jointly charged with a 17-year-old youth of taking an £800 Vauxhall Astra without the owner’s consent on December 6 at Overing Close, off Loughborough Road, Leicester. It was alleged to have been taken from Oakfield Avenue, Birstall.
The girl appeared at Leicester Youth Court yesterday, and was remanded in custody until December 31.
The youth also made an appearance at Leicester Youth Court yesterday, and was due to make a further appearance there today.

Greening Birstall Challenge.
We have recieved the following message from the 'Greening Birstall' Group:-Hello there,
Thought I'd better mention there will be people staring at house windows at some stage in the coming week (8-15 December) as part of the Greening Birstall challenge.
Leaflets were distributed with the November Birstall Post, asking people to stick them in a window when they had committed to five of the eight challenges on the leaflet, all of which save energy.
Volunteers will be counting how many leaflets there are in windows from tomorrow onwards. They won't be coming up driveways or knocking on doors, but will be having a closer look at houses than might seem normal?
So if anyone feels concerned and contacts you, you will know what is going on.

Copeland Road (close to Went Road) – Wednesday 5th November between 1.00pm and 5.30pm. Entry gained by insecure front window.
Oakfield Avenue (close to Fielding Road) – Thursday 6th December at approximately 5.00am. Burglars were disturbed but took keys to vehicle. They returned a few minutes later and took the vehicle.

Damage to vehicle – Dalby Avenue.
Overnight on Thursday/Friday, 29th/30th November an attempt was made to set fire to a vehicle parked in Dalby Avenue.

Curzon Avenue (close to Kilby Avenue) - overnight Wednesday/Thursday, 28th/29th November. Electrical items taken. A vehicle was also taken and later recovered.
Kilby Avenue – overnight Wednesday/Thursday, 28th/29th November. Two cycles taken from garage, one later recovered.
Loughborough Road (close to Johnson Road) – overnight Wednesday/Thursday, 28th/29th November. Shed broken into. Burglars disturbed and nothing taken.

House Burglary - Copeland Road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary in Birstall.The incident happened between Monday, November 5 (Bonfire Night) and Saturday, November 10 when a house in Copeland Road, Birstall was broken into and property worth an estimated £6,500 was taken.
This included a Rolex watch with a chrome strap and a round oyster purple face, an Apple phone and various items of jewellery.
Detective Constable Jo Ranson, who is investigating the incident said: “I would appeal to anyone who has seen any of these items to get in touch. If you work in the second hand jewellery trade and have been offered any of these items please get in touch with police.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who knows of someone who has recently acquired items like this.”
