Birstall Gala - Cancelled.

We have been informed by Birstall Parish Council that due to ground conditions and recent weather, the village Gala due to take place this weekend has been cancelled.

 

House Burglary - Johnson Road.

Sometime between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, 22nd - 24th June, a house in Johnson Road (close to Loughborough Road), was burgled.
Were you in this area around this time, did you see or hear anything suspicious ?  Please report any information by ringing 101, the Leicestershire Constabulary non-emergency number.

House Burglaries - Elmfield Avenue.

Overnight Saturday/Sunday 23rd/24th June, two houses in Elmfield Avenue (between Walnut Avenue and Poplar Avenue) were burgled.  Mainly electrical equipment was stolen.
It is believed that another property in the same area, at present unoccupied, was also entered sometime over the weekend.
Were you in this area around these times, did you see or hear anything suspicious ?  Please report any information by ringing 101 the Leicestershire Constabulary non-emergency number.

Shop Burglary - Sibson Road.

Overnight on Thursday 21st/Friday 22nd June, a shop on Sibson Road (near to Wanlip Avenue) was broken into.  Access was gained by going over the roof at the rear from Wanlip Avenue.
If you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area, please report it on 101 (Leicestershire Constabulary non-emergency number.

Distraction Burglary/Theft, Worcester Avenue.

On Tuesday 19th June a distraction burglary/theft took place at a house in the central part of Worcester Avenue.  The incident occurred during the afternoon and involved a female caller at the house who said she was conducting a survey.  It was later discovered that items were missing from the property.
Were you in this area around this time, did you see anyone calling at other houses or acting suspiciously?  Please report any information by ringing 101, Leicestershire Constabulary non-emergency number.

House Burglary - Wanlip Lane.

On Saturday 16th June at about 9.00-9.30pm, house in the middle section of Wanlip Lane was burgled.  The owner returned during the incident and 3 young looking males ran out and jumped into a silver mini in which the driver was sounding the horn as a warning .  The car sped off along Wanlip Lane in the direction of the Sibson Road roundabout.

Distraction Burglary - Birstall Road

Distraction Burglary Saturday 16/06/12 about 13:00- 13:30 on Birstall Road near to Holt Road, an elderly lady was duped into letting a male into the property.  He said “a property down the road had just had a new bathroom fitted and he was checking water pressure in the area", he was let in and then checked the taps then went outside to check drains and got the lady to turn taps on and off.  This is when his accomplice got into the house and searched the property.
A substantial amount of cash was taken.
The man is described as in his twenties with short ginger hair and possibly wearing a blue boiler suit.
