Parcel Scam.

One of our elderly and vulnerable gentleman members has reported to us the following scam.
He received a parcel which he had not ordered.
A short time later he received a telephone call (supposedly from the company that had sent the parcel), to say that it had been delivered to the wrong address and they would send someone round to collect it. They even arranged a password for security.

Fortunately a neighbour visited this gentleman and became suspicious. The parcel was opened and found to contain a 'Blackberry' type phone and an expensive pair of trainer shoes. A phone call to the company quickly established that they had not made the previous call regarding collection. The order had been made via the Internet and obviously using a false address. Arrangements were made for the legitimate company to collect the parcel.

It is easy to see that this gentleman could have handed the parcel over to a criminal and then been left with the bill from the company.

Be aware that these scams happen.
