Telephone service salesmen.

We have received reports from our members about doorstep salesmen from a telephone service company who are using misleading tactics.
The salesmen have stated "with us you do not need to pay a line rental charge" and "we just need to come into you house to check the line". When told that the householder was not interested, they became very persistent and finally very unpleasant.
Note.
A) If you have a telephone landline, you will always need to pay a line rental fee.
B) Unless you have reported a fault, all checking of your line will be done from the exchange.

Our advice remains the same:- Do not let unknown callers into your home.
