Mobile telephone and cash stolen from a car in Birstall

Officers from Charnwood local policing unit are appealing for witnesses after the theft of some items from a car in Birstall.
The incident took place at about 10.30pm on Saturday March 17 on Church Hill Lane, the victim has just returned to her green Peugeot car and got into the driver’s seat when two men approached the vehicle.
One of the men, who was dressed in dark clothing, got into the passenger seat and stole items from the dashboard including the victim’s HTC Desire mobile telephone and a purse containing cash and a bank card.
PC Lena Jones is investigating the incident, she said: “Although the victim wasn’t hurt or threatened during the incident this was still a traumatic incident for her.
“I would urge anyone who was in the Church Hill Lane area during the evening of Saturday March 17 to think back and contact us if they remember witnessing the incident or seeing two men acting suspiciously in the area.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4482 Lena Jones on 101*, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer’s identification number 4482. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free** and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
