Community meeting tonight: Have your say on Gypsy and Traveller sites near Birstall
The City Council is hosting have a meeting at Beaumont Leys Leisure Centre on Monday 12 March at 7.30 pm. Due to pressure of numbers, admittance may be restricted to local residents (but how are they going to check who is local and who isn’t?). City Council planning staff and the Mayor, Cllr Sir Peter Soulsby, are expected to attend this meeting.
There is also a meeting of the County Council’s Area Forum Meeting on Wednesday 14 March at Birstall Social Club (nb: not British Legion). This will deal with Travellers’ Sites as an extra item, starting at 5.30 pm. This meeting should be attended by City Council planning staff, Mat Bagley of the Multi Agency Traveller Unit and Police Sergeant Simon Ward who deals specifically with traveller issues.
Collect the consultation leaflet and questionnaire (available from the Parish Council offices and various shops around Birstall) and ensure that you fill in the questionnaire either on line or send it in by post by Friday 13 April.
