Burglaries - Good News
We have received the following message from our beat officer PC Rich Carruthers:-Burglar arrested following a stop check on one of the car parks off Meadow Lane last Thursday. Officers were patrolling after the beat team highlighted an issue with littering. The occupants were spoken to and a smell of Cannabis emanated from the car. Checks on the occupants lead to an arrest of the males for being wanted for burglary. Charges were sought for no insurance, no MOT, no driving licence, possession of a class B controlled drug and burglary. The car was seized.
Covert burglary patrols by PC carruthers and PCSO Venables on the same night may have disrupted potential burglaries in the area. One vigilant member of the community even rang the police to report them as suspicious males!
Potential burglaries were thwarted the previous evening when two known burglars were challenged in Birstall by undercover officers. They were legally harassed until they left the area and were clocked returning home empty handed. The law doesn't allow the police to arrest without any offences.
