House in Birstall burgled twice in 27 hours

Officers from Charnwood local policing unit are appealing for witnesses after a house in Birstall was burgled twice within 27 hours.
The incidents took place at a house in Wanlip Lane. The first incident took place about 3am on Monday December 13 when the house was entered through a back door and a wallet containing bank cards, a Blackberry telephone, which was broken, two mobile telephone chargers and house keys were stolen.
Sometime between 5.30am and 6am the following morning (Tuesday December 14) the house was entered again and a number of parcels were stolen from the hallway.
PC Richard Gosling is investigating the incidents, he said: “From enquiries we’ve carried out it is believed that both incidents may have been committed by the same person.
“Wanlip Lane is quite a busy road especially at the time the second incident took place with people travelling into work, whoever stole the parcels would have had to make a number of trips from the house with the goods, did you see anyone loading a vehicle in Wanlip Lane around 6am yesterday morning?
“If you can assist with the investigation then please get in touch, even the smallest of detail could help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 2983 Richard Gosling on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer’s identification number 2983. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
